…And what Aaron Rodgers got rather wrong. 😲
Sometimes we make motivation a bit harder than it has to be.
Do you follow football and the Packers at all?
Just in case you’re different than me and not that into Packers, I won’t talk about it much here. 😊 (but I still think the world of you)
this Packers’ offseason reveals a pretty simple Fitness Motivation secret for you…
… A few years ago, Aaron Rodgers held a press conference going over all the things he was upset with and why he had threatened to hold out and not play that year.
One of the things he shared was that Green Bay didn’t have much to offer to attract new players or free agents to come play for them…
… it was a small town
… not a big media presence
… not much to do in that city as far as parties and clubs
… it’s cold and you’ll have to deal with the snow
… no beaches
Rodgers shared that he felt that HE was the main reason that new players came to Green Bay.
Because he was so good. Was a Hall of Fame player.
Gave them a great chance to win the Super bowl. (i thought that SuperBowl was one word, but spell correct didn’t think so 😅)
Well, as it turns out, and based on the evidence of all the players signed by the Packers over the years…
(including the very in demand Defensive Coordinator Coach they signed!)
… all those negatives Rodgers talked about really don’t matter all that much.
Want to know what really moves the needle for all those new players and free agents thinking of signing with the Green Bay Packers?….
… MONEY!!!! 🤑 🤑 🤑
It pretty much boils down to whichever team offers the most money, that’s who that player decides to join with.
It was the deciding factor when the Packers signed Hall of Fame legend Reggie White back in the 90’s when he was the biggest free agent available.
We make Fitness Motivation a bit more complicated than it has to be sometimes…
A lot of imaginative, abstract things like:…
- “finding your why”
- do it for your loved ones
- do it for future you
- to not let others down
- improving certain health markers like cholesterol and blood pressure
- having goals
- increase quality of life and longevity
- avoiding negative diseases and conditions
- developing mental fortitude and discipline
Them are VERY powerful when you have them…
… but how much motivation would you really need if you actually got paid a substantial amount of money to show up to a workout? 😊
(I’m curious what that number would be for you 😉)
I’m sure many of those football and Packers players enjoy playing the game,
but they sure aren’t turning them paychecks away! 🏈❤
In this world, you get to a point where doing the health and fitness actions brings their own rewards…
… and that sustains you for years.
But just in case you need more motivation…
… how can you arrange things so that it’s your own version of “getting paid”?
“Get paid” to workout out.
“Get paid” to stick to a healthy meal plan
“Get paid” to eat only one cookie instead of the whole box (good job!)
It can be money you get from others that support you.
> It can be money you give yourself.
We are more motivated to NOT LOSE money that’s ours then to do something and gain money…
… so instead of being paid to workout, you can actually say you get to KEEP money that you have. (more on this later 😊)
It doesn’t have to be money either.
It can be in the form of getting to do something.
For example, in the beginning of my chubby hubby to hot hubby transformation journey…
… I struggled for fitness motivation and didn’t want to go to the gym.
So I “paid myself” in the form of getting to watch tv and playing video games.
If I got my workout in, that unlocked around 2 hours of that sweet sweet “screen time”.
I then asked my wonderful wifey to keep me accountable on that. It worked!
After awhile I didn’t need that “getting paid” stuff because it became ingrained in me, but it was sure helpful in those first few months.
Is this helpful? Good.
If you need help coming up with ideas, let me know as I’m here for you.
Off you go now to crush the day and “get paid”! 😊
