Possible to Have Motivation Issues Gone?

My 5am ladies had me rolling with laughter with laughter this morning!

We were talking about our upcoming Shamrock Shuffle 5k race this Saturday and I was asking them if they thought it would be a good idea for me to bring my 16 month old Kason along.

Have him in the stroller while I push from behind.

They had some wonderful advice about that, and I’ve made a decision…

… I’ve decided to not bring the little guy along because the beginning of the race has a very STEEP learning curve to it…

… it’s a HUGE downward hill. (see what I did there? )😉

The race starts at the top of the McPhee hill by the UWEC!

If I happened to lose control of Kason’s stroller… it would be runaway baby real quick!

(my pulse quickens and tension within rising just thinking about that, such is the life of a parent, isn’t it?)

I joked in our session this morning that it doesn’t matter how much I hated running or if I had a lack of motivation going on…

… I would be running as fast as my 42 year old legs could take me to catch his stroller!

That right there is a serious clue into unlocking new levels of motivation within me, if I needed it.

I don’t need much motivation these days, because fitness is now part of my DNA & identity…

… but I certainly needed it at the beginning of my transformation journey.

Our brains already like to present us with “worst case scenarios”. So why not use that for our benefit to spur some good action, (like working out or saying no to that 5th piece of pizza!)

Let your imagination run wild a little bit about anything bad that might occur on account of not being in shape or fit.

… especially if it’s tied to a loved one, like in my runaway baby nightmare scenario just mentioned.

For example…

At the beginning of my chubby hubby -to- hot hubby (according to wifey) transformation journey… I let my imagination go nuts about the negative direction my life would take if I didn’t lose that extra weight…

Like a country song, I imagined…

… my wife leaving me for another guy… (and taking the dogs)

… us never getting pregnant and never start a family

… lose my job, etc, you get the idea

I let my mind go to this rather dark place that was full of pain & yuckiness.

While at the same time, I let my mind go to the OTHER side too…

… the positive side. The good.

Me living my best life.

Getting my body back and not feeling so old.

Never struggling with “performance issues” in the bedroom — so that I could knock her up and make her a Mother… (I knew she would be an AMAZING one)

Wifey getting the kind of husband she deserves.

Now this kind of Fitness Motivation strategy is quite powerful…

… you can use it as motivation to just start a transformation journey

… you can use day to day to show up to your workout

… you can even use it situational within a workout itself.

Hope that helps and you use it wisely.

Now without further adieu (man, is that word ever fun to say!),

I’ve got some running to practice (but without Kason and a huge hill) 😉

Oofda, this was a bit of a “dark episode”…

… so to even it out a bit, here’s a picture of an otter.
