You might be really confused right now… 😕
Just so you know, Betty White is the name of our tri-colored Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dog. 🐶 💖
She came into our lives around the same day that THE Betty White the actress sadly passed away on December 31st, 2021.
My wife and I were huge fans of Betty White and especially for her own love and support of animals she gave.
For about 3 days straight we watched all sorts of tribute videos, Golden Girls episodes, and movies starring Betty White.
Meanwhile, we were deciding on a name for our new dog, and that’s when my really smart wife had the idea to name our new dog after Betty White in honor of her.
So that’s now her name and she is super cute, kissy, and cuddly…
… but does have a little sass and rebelliousness in her. (like peeing on the bed!) 😡
After an awesome morning yesterday and getting to train some amazing clients…
… I get home around 9:30 and walk into our room to change out of my Personal Training “costume” and into some home clothes.
As the bedroom door creaks open and i flip on the light, there staring at me in my eyeballs, like two headlights from a car on a dark country road with his high beams on…
… are two pee spots on one side of the bed.
(on the wife’s side too, and she never does it on mine! Which is topic for a different email someday! 😅)
Although we have 4 dogs, we are pretty sure Betty White is the guilty party on account of her doing it before.
Why am I sharing this story with you?
It’s simple.
You see back when these dogs were just puppies, we took them to puppy class over at Embark.
One of the first things our trainer said, and we were lucky enough to have Heather, the owner, teach a lot of those classes —
— she said that whenever a dog first does something “wrong”…
… before you lash out and punish or scold or anything training related…
… to first look inward.
To be a leader and take full responsibility for it.
Ask yourself if there is anything in that dog’s “bad” behavior that could be the human’s, fault.
Was it something we did, or didn’t do, that can be corrected.
Is it something we can find training for.
>> Either on our own, or hire a professional dog trainer to correct.
So when I saw Betty White’s pee marks on the bed, that was my first thought…
… “was this my fault?”
Since my wife was still in our son’s room sleeping,
chances were good that Betty White hadn’t been let out since she didn’t go with the other dogs that morning when I let them all out. (ah, the adventures of pet ownership! I’d love to hear yours! 😊)
So yes, in this case, it WAS my fault. 🤦♂️ 😖
When you’re on any kind of health, wellness, or fitness journey,
you get a pass for the first bunch of years you’re on it.
Most, if not ALL, of the problems you faced that got you going on that journey…
… were NOT your fault.
You simply didn’t know the things you didn’t know.
One fitness influencer is telling you to avoid that one thing at all cost.
The next one is telling you that no, it’s this other thing you need to focus on. 😲
Your friend tells you another thing.
On and on it goes, for years on end.
That’s why I am here.
There’s a reason that around 90% of people that try to get into shape and get results sadly fail.
My Purpose is to do something about that and help guide you through this overwhelming, and confusing world…
… so that you can be the best version of yourself for your loved ones.
I’ve got workouts and meal plans to show you that are great for everyday “regular” people like you and me.
and have returned great results so far for my fellow Workout Hero using them.
Once you’re equipped with them…
once you have the “secrets”…
… then and only then, does it then become your responsibility. But by then it’s easy because you have results, momentum,
and avoided many of the mistakes that derails others.
This Workout Hero Club exists to guide you there and follow through on God’s Plan with my life and the talents he gave me.
That is, after once I finished cleaning up Betty White’s pee 😅
So long and thanks for the fish (shout out to Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) 😉
Your Guide & biggest fan,
Erick
