7 Seconds Is All You Have {Fitness Motivation}

Most people have Fitness Motivation all wrong…

… and I was one of them for YEARS, so please don’t feel bad if you do this too.

This was even after I already achieved enormous fitness success and already at the “top.”

Most think that it has to come from somewhere out there.

An IG post

A speech

A video

That cup of coffee or pre-workout supplement.

Those things certainly help (especially the pre-workout! 😊)

But really fitness motivation is something that first comes from within us…

… from there it either grows and we protect it like a fierce Momma Bear around her baby cub…

… or it whittles away.

1.) First things first is you start with setting a goal…

2.) From there your subconscious mind takes over and gives you a feeling about it

3.) About 98% of the time, you aren’t even aware of the feeling.

4.) 7 seconds later, your conscious mind kicks in (if you’re intentional about this) and you become aware of that feeling, and then…

… For most of us, we have no idea why we feel the way we do about that goal.

And that’s where you, your heart, your soul, and your thoughts come in.

Do a little “flashbacking” in your mind and memories —

— to experiences and best guesses as to WHY that feeling is there that you have attached to a goal.

Let me give you an example of this where I first what was happening:

As you now know, I was a chubby fat kid growing up in elementary school.

Running was NOT FUN and one of the more embarrassing things I could do in front of my classmates.

I remember one day in gym class we did a 1 mile run test and I was dead last. 

During the final part of that run, I was getting laughed at and made fun by the other students as my rolls and “man-boobs” flopped around and non-stop jiggled.

All while also sweating like crazy and barely able to breath.

Needless to say, I grew up hating running and that lasted all the way into adulthood.

Now there I was, in elite shape, and I still hated running. It wasn’t until I stopped and asked myself WHY I hated it and that’s where those flood of horrible memories came up from childhood.

The reason I bring this up is because the thing that will derail your motivation and progress the most…

… is your feelings.

Is your emotions.

It is like GRAVITY in that it is an invisible, but incredibly powerful force…

… that governs so many of our choices and actions without us even knowing about it.

It is why when you show up for workouts, we do my Anti-fragile training system

… which meets you where you are at, and you grow better from there.

If you HATE burpees or other certain exercises, don’t fret, you don’t have to do them. 😊

Workouts are custom to you.

It is why I teach about the “Never Skip Dessert” Meal Plan, so that you can still enjoy your favorite foods but still see progress and results.

Our goal is to have you avoid those HATEFUL feelings.

Because nothing will erode your motivation faster than continually going there.

So that’s your homework today:

1. Think of your goal

2. Wait for the feelings to arrive about it.

3. Then do a little brainstorming into your past as to your best guess WHY those feelings are there

  1. After that, you can do a bonus step and see about REPLACING those yucky/negative feelings with good ones by making a new choice about that past experience…

… but that is stuff to go over at a future time if you want.

Well, my fellow Workout Hero… I’ve gots to go and get lunch ready for me and baby!

It’s a rather “boring” day of eating with just protein and vegetables today as I overdid a bit with the calories over the weekend. 😔
